A year or more ago I was looking seriously at the Fuji S100fs, a large bridge camera with a big 14.3 zoom and, more importantly, a larger than usual sensor for a compact. I didn´t choose it in the end, but as an alternative to a full DSLR it had its plus points. Although I couldn´t ever say that size was one of them.
It´s replacement is here, and....well, I´m not sure who they are aiming this camera at. The specs, size, design and features are almost identical to the old model. If you want a compact with a big zoom, Nikon and Pentax now have a 26x options. Want the compactness? Olympus new Ep-1 has you covered there, with a much bigger sensor. A proper DSLR sensor in fact.
Maybe you want flashy features but at less of a cost than the Olympus. The Sony HX1 and Canon SX1 both beat the (still expensive) Fuji here, and have innovative CMOS sensors.
That´s not to say that the Fuji is without a few unique tricks however, it´s highly praised EXR sensor being one of them. But I just can´t see why someone would buy this sort of cmera now. I´m sure I´d have fun with one, but I don´t think I´d part with money for one. More info here.
